About the Drug Awareness Program

Program status: Not currently running.

Heartland’s Drug Awareness Program was intended to help rural youth understand the risks associated with substance use and make informed choices.

The planned approach combined educational presentations, personal stories and interactive virtual reality (VR) experiences to explore the effects and consequences of drug and alcohol use. Topics included cannabis (marijuana), cocaine, heroin, fentanyl and alcohol.
